The Luxel+® dosemeter measures radiation exposure due to x-ray, gamma and beta radiation with Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) technology.
The OSL radiation detector inside the Luxel+ dosemeter is a thin strip of specially formulated aluminium oxide (Al2O3:C) crystalline material. During analysis, the Al2O3:C strip is stimulated with selected frequencies of light causing it to luminesce in proportion to the amount of radiation exposure and the intensity of stimulation light.

The OSL strip is sandwiched within a multi-element filter pack.
The filter pack and detector are heat sealed within a laminated, light-tight paper wrapper creating a fully sealed and self contained packet. This packet is sealed inside a tamper-proof plastic blister pack to limit the effects of mishandling, light leakage, or lost detection elements.
The filter pack is equipped with an ‘Imaging’ component. The analysis of the ‘Imaging’ component can provide information to identify whether an exposed dosemeter was static or dynamic during irradiation.
Luxel+ is designed to include a Neutrak detector for neutron measurement, avoiding the need
to wear an additional badge.

Luxel+ dosemeter allows the detection of X-rays, gamma and beta. It is insensitive to neutron radiation.
